Firstly, sorry for my lack of updates recently, life has been very busy!
The end of November marked the last race of the IWCC forward only autotest championship. The last round of the season is always one of the most exciting as it take place in a botanical garden and the gardens are very unforgiving; the course itself is usually a fairly simple one for drivers to remember but if you get it wrong around the gardens you get it really wrong – which someone found out on the day!
This round we only managed to get in 5 sessions as opposed to the usual 6 due to the nights now drawing in sooner. I really gelled with the course in the mx5 and I ran some of my fastest times of the whole season, I held the fastest lady title for most of the day and was battling it out with my friend in her Mx5, she topped me by a couple of seasons but I managed to keep my toe in and reclaim the fastest lady title or so I thought…I’d put in my fastest time of the day on the last session and was shocked that I may actually be in for a shot of fastest lady on one of the most challenging courses, unfortunately on the last session one of the more seasoned ladys brought in a time out of nowhere beating me by a second snatching the fastest lady title away! I was gutted that I just missed out on a round win with the Mazda because she performed faultlessly throughout the day but I was pleased with my overall times and results and glad that I brought her home safe and sound and we will be back ready to rock and roll in the upcoming 2022 season J

In other news, I managed to sale on both my CRF450R and my CRF450X with a heavy heart (I’d keep them all if I could!) and managed to fund a new race bike for the next supermoto season in 2022. Since having the opportunity to ride the flawless Husky at Wigan, I couldn’t get the idea of getting one for myself out of my head. I’ve had a few offs, mainly down to set up on my converted mx bikes and decided now was the time to step my game up a bit now I am getting faster and would like to become more competitive so I decided to search for the FS450 model which is supermoto from factory, everything I wanted in one little supermoto package. Both Mikey and I had been searching far and near for one of these models, which are extremely hard to come by, even one of the bigger dealerships we phoned only had one and couldn’t get hold of another one. Well chance had it, we managed to somehow find TWO! Problem was, they were the other side of the country – the one I was after was in Scotland! And Mikeys in Yorkshire! After a day or two of discussing the pros and cons of travelling all that way for bikes we decided that there isn’t many around and to get out hands on them would be a golden opportunity and give us some really nice set up bikes for the race season next year. Decision made and boats booked we started our loooong travel up to Scotland, which we managed there and back home in about 24hrs! We slept in our little transit van for a few hours during the night, swapped driving shifts every 100miles or so and completed our mission. It was 9pm the next day by the time we were home back on the boat but we met some lovely people along the way, saw some impressive sights and most importantly secured ourselves some beautiful machines for 2022. A thank you to Teasdale motorcycles for their hospitality when we picked up Mikeys FS450, the guys were really knowledgeable, a good craic and most importantly make a nice brew! – make sure you give them a shout if you’re looking for a set of new wheels. I hope you all stay safe and well and manage to have a lovely Christmas with your family and friends!
